The Curriculum

Children study the National Curriculum from the age of five. Subjects covered are English, Mathematics, Science, Information Communication Technology, Physical Education, Art, Music, History, Geography, Religious Education and Design Technology. Children also take part in Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE). There are also opportunities in Year 6 to enjoy learning a modern foreign language.

Homework is considered to be a valuable element of the teaching and learning process, and children are expected to work at home with parental support on a regular basis. Details of each year group`s homework will be sent home on the termly newsletter in September. Please encourage your child to take care of any equipment and books they bring home. We have protective school book bags that can be purchased from school at a cost of £3.75.

We are justifiably proud of the quality of work within the Arts. We firmly believe that by offering a broad and balanced curriculum we can get the very best out of each and every child. It is said that the school days are the best days of one’s life and we endeavour to make everyday enjoyable and filled with excellent teaching and learning opportunities. We have recently received the prestigious Arts Mark Gold Award, which recognises excellent practice and provision across the Arts. Instrumental music tuition is available on a range of different musical instruments, and we aim to offer this facility to all pupils who wish to play an instrument. No charge is made for the music tuition.
